I just don't get if a performance has copies of the 8 programs it is built up by; or if it is just 'pointers'.
Like for example: Is it natural that
if a have a performance and change like everything on one part and then save the performance and "Update Progs: NO" that the changes in the _part_ is not changed? I does not come naturally to me.
What I really mean is:
Is the parts only 'pointers' to the real programs? Or are they totally copied?
If they are only pointers: so then a part is only a location of the sound, and (if you wish) a effect setting (and some midi stuff), not plenty of controller settings? But then why is a performance sysx more than 8 times a program's size?
Thank you!

If you do a perf dump via sysex the perf dump contains all the progs as well...
This is really handy as a perf dump at the head of the track will sound correct no matter what sounds are in menory
