www.prorec.com "RYO" article

altho the MoBo he reccomends is a bit out of date

Personally I would go Asus A7v266 and say an AthlonXP 1800

here in the states the board is about $125 and the Processor $130

takes DDR ram...256 MB for $55 or so.

thats $300.

try www.pricewatch.com. I dont know if theres prices for europe tho

yes, pricewatch is great.

The Epox EKHA (or whatever the newer model is) is really fast and really stable... with an onboard post card, which would have helped me, recently...

Second that on the EPoX EP8KHA+!!!

Building a FOURTH PC for some music heads down here using the AMD/EPoX DDR Mobo combo, they're fast and they RULE!!!

(And they're CHEAP!) Ģ101 UKP (Inc TAX!)

(Remember you'll need a Case, CPU, CPUfan, Mobo, Memory, Harddisk, gfx card, Soundcard, floppy & CDDrive)

Well the EPoX is a brand we get here and I'm fairly certain from reviews on american sites like www.anandtech.com and Firing Squad etc. that it should be available in the use....

..but ANY K266"A" based board is gonna sort you out a treat.. and features like RAID etc. aside, the chipset is cheap enough one to put out so comparative boards by Gigabyte, Microstar, Asus etc. will do just as well and should be as cheap..

I only mentioned EPoX coz its a board I've used but as you know, its the VIA chipset that's behind it all and that's what's doin' the shit'!

argh! mired yet again in a world of confusion

whats the difference between the VIA KT266"A" and the KT266? is there a difference?

I was looking at the asus A7v266 ($120) and then mark and espoo spoiled it and told me about that Epox which is only $70 at the site espoo mentioned..but THEN..the epox..there are different makes and I CANT FUCKING TELL THE DIFFERENCE!!!!

sheesh
