Hello, someone please help. I just recently upgraded my motherboard, video card, and soundcard. I installed a SBLive!Value. Anyways, I can't run any audio appz except for Reason now. go figure? After installing Acid, soundforge, or Vegas, whenever I try running them, I instantly get the blue screen. It's really pissin me off. I even switched the settings to just use the built in sound on the motherboard (my original setup), and still the same problem. Could it have something to do with the fact that the Soundblaster card only came with Win2000 drivers, and I had to download 98 one's off the web, and that causes some sort of conflict? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

did you unload you old soundcards drivers?

if in doubt, boot to safe mode (press f8 just before the pc says 'loading windows') and check the drivers listed for soundcard, remove any old ones or remove them all then reboot.

Integrated sound cards can interfear with pci cards even if you disable them. I had to get a new mobo to run my DSP factory because the plug-n-play finds the card on boot up, and even if you hit cancel to enable it the system recognizes it and I got audio glitches and blue screens. Also check your midi device. Two apps trying to use the same port will give you blue screens. Definatley go and delete old .vxd and .dll files for the old drivers. Do this by looking in the driver's install file to see what they are, then do a search of you windows system file and delete them. blue screens are cuased by virtual device conflicts. ie: one app using two sound drivers, or two apps trying to use the same device. Try closing out all programs during installs and at run time. There should be nothing running, not even a virus sheild. do cntl-alt-del and close all but explorer. Once you have deleted the old drivers, delete the new ones and reinstall.

"I had to get a new mobo to run my DSP factory because the plug-n-play finds the card on boot up"

eh?... if it's turned off in the bios?

i think it'd be a good idea to use the right drivers yes dave. Use the APS hack - see the soundcard forum it's being discussed.

Thanks for the replies, I'm sorry to say, but I'm kinda glad to see that I'm not the only one that's had this problem. Makes me feel like I'm not a total idoit. Thanks again.

Oh ya, I also could use some help with this too.
After this new setup, My mouse occasionally has a mind of it's own? It will jump around the screen and select stuff on it own. It gets so bad sometimes that it'll even close out of programs and stuff like that. Is this a "mouse driver" thing?

Sounds like a possessed thing to me, Get a priest out, he'll know what to do.

You upgraded your motherboard and all that, but did you re-install windows? Sounds like you didn't to me, if not then re-install.

Ahh, just to let you all know, everything is working fine now. Except for the mouse still, probably should just go buy a new one. All I had to do was disable the previous soundcard, thanks.
