yup... load rexfiles and it plays em plus a few other features and it renders standard gm midifiles too I beleive!!

Bitshift Audio Releases pHATmatik - Free Loop VSTi for Windows
12.03.2001 Bitshift Audio today announced the immediate availability
of pHATmatik for Windows - a Virtual Studio Technology Instrument (VSTi)
that can play back REX audio loops in any VST 2.0-compliant host.
With pHATmatik and REX-formatted loops, users can now do loop-based
production directly in their digital audio workstation of choice without
having to switch between several different programs for loop
production, midi, and audio.
pHATmatik leverages the industry-standard REX file format, giving
users access to a massive selection of REX-formatted libraries from
third parties. Users can also freely download a regularly updated
selection of REX files directly from the Bitshift Audio web site.
pHATmatik is the first VSTi that can extract the 'groove'
information from a REX file and export it to a Standard Midi File, allowing
users to reconstruct the original groove in their midi-capable VST host
without a REX authoring tool.
In addition to REX load/export/playback support, pHATmatik provides
the user with standard sampler-like tools for creatively modifying
the loop: ADSR amplitude envelope, a 'pHAT' 2-pole resonant filter,
switchable between lowpass and highpass, and more.
"Working with loops is such an important part of music production, users
need loop-based tools that integrate with their existing environment
and streamline the technical overhead of working with loop-based
material. Shortening the path to productive creativity is what pHATmatik is
all about," said Art Gillespie, director of development at Bitshift Audio.

It requires a VST 2.0-compliant host running on Windows 98/Me/2000/XP to run.

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

it'll also find the peaks in a non-loop peice of audio, anyways these are split into component chunks, and can be sequenced to play back in any order or slowdown/speedup -
The REXPLAYER in REASON is a superb tool.
