I can't hear any sound from the tutorial files (.wrk) that came with Sonar XL, except the tutorial5.bun file... I can hear songs I import, but thats it

The tutorial .wrk files contains only mididata. You must have midi keyboard/sampler/sound module or virtual dxi synth connected to that track.
You hear stuff from bun.files cause those contain audio. You can't hear midi data without any device connected to it. Midi data is just bunch of messages like what note is playing, how long, what's the velocity ect.

Yes. Do you have a midi interface and gear? If not, like Timo says, you can plug the dxi into the midi tracks. In case you're just starting out, don't get frustrated. Midi routing is easy but at first can appear confusing until you get the hang of it. If you run into any questions you can post here and also search the site for midi implementation or tutorials or something.
