if you don't know:

oh yes guys!! - the answer to all our dreams... I just added ti to the SAMPLES/FILES Library section of the site.

"Hybridalien midiGate is a FREEWARE plugin for Cubase VST. It uses MIDI note on/off events to open and close a noise gate, recreating the ducking/gating effects so popular in dance music. Does away with the hassle of using an external noise gate with a separate audio trigger source."

and it works, although it doesn't quite have the 'jitter' ability of a real hardware gate, but you can sort of imitate that with velocity on the trigger noates.

You just insert it over a mono or stereo audio or VSTi channel such as a nice synth pad etc... then it appears like a VSTi in your arrangepage sequencer Track headers as a destination for ANY midi track!! - sequence your required trigger pattern and adjust the gate! - or copy drum parts such as hi-hat patterns over to new track to create drum_pattern part based gate triggering - drooooool!!!...

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

you can use any soft synth with input to gate as well, like the pro-52 but use the filter and delays as well as fx like reaktor has to manipulate the source.
