I have a B&W G3 400 Mac that is having file transfer problems between my main SCSI HD and the Backup ATA. For some reason when I try to transfer files from my ATA to the SCSI, it transfers about 10 megs and then freezes. But when I transfer from the SCSI to the ATA, I can do it flawlessly. Both drives are 7200 RPM. And both drives are formatted with Mac OS 9 Standard. Any ideas? Thanks once again, panama.

I'm on a G4 400, sometimes I get the same error when backing up to my firewire drive (7200) from my internal SCSI (10,000). I've found that if I copy less files at a time, it's fine. this is recent, though, and I was hoping it would be solved by defragging my SCSI HD (never done that, it must be a mess). do you defrag regularly? HTH

what's OS 9 'standard'? 9.2?

yea, same here... If I copy a small amount of files, it works fine. But when I copy a whole folder from the ATA, it crashes.

I still can't figure it out tho... all the device ID's and numbers are okay. It must be the SCSI built in ROM thats causing the problem.???

err, I don't know. I don't even know about "built in ROM" so if you figure it out, I'd really appreciate it if you let me know.
