my one concern is this: ok if yamaha is blowing out the ds2416 cards then that most likely means that their product support will dwindle, and I doubt that this card will see any future development in the much hyped window's wdm standard area ... of critical importance to me since i just pre-ordered the new cakewalk sonar.
but! this is incredibly cheap for a card that was once hot-shit. i can't make up my mind on this one.

32-bit audio to and from the computer's disk drive. It provides a
24-channel, 10-bus digital mixer with stereo 24-bit digital in/out and
stereo analog in/out. The AX44 adds four additional ins and outs. Talk about
processing power: 4-band EQ on every channel plus 26 independent dynamics
processors (a compressor/gate on every channel!) - and two effects
processors comparable to the Yamaha RX500. The DS2416 is compatible with
major audio sequencing programs.

They also offer this deal with the ADAT breakout box instead of the analog I/O box. I just ordered one.
I didn't see anything from Yamaha indicating that the card was going to be discontinued, and the price has been dropping on this card for the last year. I'm not sure if it means it's going to be discontinued or not.
