wow.. at 1am this mornig i took a bunch of floppy disks into my studio and installed all the soft synths i have been making... :p

i has low expectations, because the first one i did ('blaster') totally ate up my cpu, so i doubted i could use more than 6 or 7 synths..

well, today, i was running audio tracks and 13 instances of my synths (including one 'mystic,' which is sort of large) and hitting 40-50% on my cpu meter. i don't know what i did differently, but damn... i've got everythnig i need! tons of extra parts for my hardware..

...and if my drum synths aren't enough for you (sheesh does rockit sound good.. i really didn't expect that.. sounds like a freaking snare drum alright..) i'll have a little sampler up with some modulation oscillators sometime...

you try! you see! "tate it."

hey x, i have an idea for you: if you write to SOS saying how you made all those drum synths with help of their synthesis articles, they might give you a spot on their pages. think about it, you could be famous by monday

on the other hand, if you dont read sos then forget what i just said.

prolly a good thing.. needs a few fixes.. might have accidentally erased it when i ate some of the other old ones..

utopia's due for an update too.. i relly want to see a few more features on it, ie. decided that a filter envelope might be worthwhile, but clanger and rockit are going to stay where the are for a while.

oh.. fucked up the link.. it should be vsti/mystic not vsti.mystic..

forgot the 'retrigger' option for legato too.. :p

Yea get in touch with SOS. I'd love to write a letter to the editor responding to an article you wrote. They'd wonder why all my statements were upholstered with puns. Still haven't opened clapper. Didn't get a chance to work on music this weekend.

well you're not using it right. try really high notes if you want classic claps.. mid range notes will give you very 'real' sounding claps. it's very versatile!

Just glancing at the topics listed in this forum. It used to belong pretty much to NI. Now Xoxos owns it.

SO???? ^^^^ HOW DO YOU THINK IT SOUNDS???

i love that #&$% drum synth..

btw making a proper effort to use and test these thnigs now.. almost all of them (except that snare dealy) are going to get a revision.. better velocity ranges, a fitler envelope on utopia.... you are all so lucky!

that hi-hat is so fucking cool!!!!!!!

btw does anyone use cubase??? 'blip' should feed the lfo to pitch when you use the mod wheel/aftertouch, but doesn't in logic.. i think it's the logic controller affair dealy. does it work for anyone in cubase? if not, i'll take it out of the architecture.

you mean a bunch of stuff to download and use the presets on, right? i'm confused here - you're human, right? humans don't patch synths.. humans select presets.. there must be some error. you've been drinking soda haven't you

heh now you know the addiction most of us reaktor users have felt over the years...

i had to stop messing with reaktor to get music done but that still didn't help.

now i just write tons of music parts and never finish songs

i got a funky hair and i've decided to make another one.. haven't put any mod envs or lfos in but !!! 2 oscs with sync, fm, phase distortion, wave shaping, exponential envelopes (i used the same exponential/linear mod for the waveshaping) lots of unusual options and all done with faders instead of buttons so you can trim everything. structured like a 2 osc va but doesn't sound like one. very weird.

plus i was shooting for a 'performance' synth so there's velocity to envelope rate and/or height on everything.. anyway. deeds not words, shut up now.

xoxos, do me a favour.. make me a woosh machine thing but make me a moron proof interface - I want a controls called:

"length of woosh attack" - i want some sort of more graphic representation of the signal flow so i can make out what the is going on

sure thing... but you gotta tell me what you want.. just filter noise swell or drop? easy.. five controls..

if that's all, i can add a stereo unison mode that'd be neat cos you could use an envelope to widen the whoosh.. but if you want tinkly synth noises in it, mystic's the best choice.. it just takes a bit of work. all the control names are straightforward, if you're familiar with the features.. pmd = phase modulation distortion, et al.

just finished the one i was talking about above.. unfortunately it's about as complex as mystic.. sounds nice with lfo assigned to waveshaping and pmd and fm and osc 2 modulating the filter gonig on.. just gotta convince myself not to use all the features on every sound..

well for example, i could nt for the life of me stop some envlope stuff happening to the osc' so that i WANTED a sound to rise up or down, to be able to set that curve & depth, and polarity (up down) and also for the filter etc... simple & basic with obvious controls - so I can open it, and quickly make some sort of swooping woosh noise with ease and easily time that woosh swell & rise & fall so it perfectly lines up with the crescendo of what i'm trying to make it swell into

hmm.. i'll have to have a fiddle. it'd be nothing just to set up an oscillator (or stereo pair) and have 'em rise and fall with a filter, but coming up with some simple options to vary it up is the trick..

i mean you could wo a sawtooth lfo on the pitch and have it go blimblimblimbBLIMBLIMBLIM but that's sound the same each time.. so you'd get bored of using it.. then if you want another lfo or an envelope to vary the rate of the lfo (which is one of my preferred textures) you could do that, but giving different options is where it starts to stretch into the huge front panels et c.

i'm sure i can find something sorta fun for a few thrills.. wire up knobs to tweak several things at once.. won't last forever, but a few decent tricks. any suggestions welcomed tho.

i think Blip does what you need k, i made buncha wooshes with it.

ok XOXOS: i tested yer synths. every single one of them.

Thumper, the kick one, -totaly- rocks, excellent amount of subbass, i´ve been using it as a bassline thing. highly recomended.

ecs is excellent too, very good stereo claps.

the snare one, it is very good, but the presets are not really the kind i use, and i still havent gotten down to drum synthesis. still, it´d probly do the job for many applications.

the two hat synths sound a bit weird to me, always clangy, never as "hissey" as i´d like them to be. ok for weirder type of metallic percussion.

synths: i´ve played a bit with Blip last nite, made a simple bass sound. looks ok. the other two need some studying first. weird tones indeed.

one strange thing, your synths always have too much gain, i have to turn the faders down quite a bit. ok, i know i can turn down the "amp" knob too. but is this intentional or...?

oh, and another thing: the synths DO recall the correct presets with the song in Logic 5. bound to make you happy, that

tnx x, m

fuck! i need me some logicfive..

i patch 'em all on my little pc, so no clue what the gain is.. all i can say is *most* of the presets odn't distort.. the thing is.. when i'm patching 'em.. i hear the sound in little 1/2 second clips as my processor renders it..

aah you're all nice. that shit is nothing. the new ones.. woowoo..

i don't think the world is ready to handle them, so i'll spare you all..
