interestingly, Al Qaeda 'officialy' announced a ceasation of hostilities against Spain now that the Socialist government has announced withdrawal of troops and assistance in Iraq.

Looks like we'll be next then for sure (and the USA again no doubt)

i once read this book set in the cold war where the ruskies had planned to set off a nuke in an US airbase in the UK just before the 1984 general election (the year when michael foot issued his 'red' manifesto) to influence people to vote labour.....when i spoke to my mates they thought the concept was flawed as no population would change there political stripes just over one incident.....well wouldn't they?

i don't think al queda had any real political motivation but scarily the theory works......what i guess is ironic is that the russians are no longer a threat in that context but the ones who are are the ones the yanks armed so they could fight the ruskies....if only it was that simple though

the socialist government in Spain were always against the iraq war. whats not to say that they always did plan to withdraw their troops from Iraq when they got in power. Still, either way they listened to their people. Our c*nting government dont.

yeah i dont believe it was a conspiracy in that sense but spain must be aplauded for the integrity of its socialist government but moreso for that astonishing display of unity for the rememberence night.....im not sure the same thing would happen in england...we're too apathetic......
