Does anyone know what the maximum sample size of this card is? Or is there no limit, except for the RAM?
And is this card good as a sampler?

Max. sample RAM: 4 MB on board, upgradeable with a 4 MB on a 16 MB EDO RAM module (= 8 MB or max. 20 MB).

What is good? For a soundcard it isn´t bad. But an AKAI or Yamaha Sampler (e.g. A3000) is much better.

I didn't mean how much RAM you can put on the card, I know that already. What I meant was, is there a limit on the size of the instrument samples? For example, the Soundtrack 128 Ruby has got a maximum sample size of 256 kB, so you can't use any samples bigger than approx. 1.5 seconds. You can, however put as much as 64 MB RAM on it (but you can't, for some reason, use more than 16 MB at a time).
So I repeat my question once again: What is the maximum sample size of this card?
And does the sampling software (I think it's called Maxi memory or Memory 64 or something) work the way it should?

Thanks

Aahhh...... I´ve got it

Sorry for my deficiency!

Home-Studio IS LIMITED (hi Marian, sorry, but you´re wrong  )

Max. sample size is limited to 256 kB, mono (!).

If you try to load up bigger samples they´ll be "truncated" by Maxi Instrument Editor.

In the maxi instrument editor documentation it says 'A sequencer can only access an instrument through the midi program and/or variation'

I know this may sound stupid, but... I can't figure out how to load drum sets into the maxi home studio pro card. I've reviewed the documentation several times, but to no avail. I've managed normal instruments (channel #0) and obviously I can load drum sets here, but I want to be able to load 'em to channel #10 (I think I'm missing something really obvious...). I've changed the midi program, this just changes the instrument, I've changed the variation, but again this is just another variation of the standard midi instruments.

Incidentally, does anyone else's software crash quite a bit.. mine does.

Feel free to tell me how dumb I am for missing something so obvious (just as long as you help me out!).

Any help whatsoever, even just clarification of the differences between channel, banks, variations and midi program, would be very much appreciated.

Are there any specialist Maxi web sites around, I know I'm not totally alone.. AM I? ...Help!

Regards

Mark

Hi!

hmmm.... as I understand, you are able to create and load soundbanks into the Maxi RAM. Well, as far, as good.

Your trouble with channel 10:

With Maxi-Bank Downloader you can do a Map-Files.

Watch out this file. It will be created when you hit this Map-Files button.

See the section Back-Up Instruments. These instruments were replaced by the bank, you have loaded up to the Maxi RAM.

If you create an own bank and transfert and compile it, you can choose the place, where these sounds will be located. You can choose a program-number and a variation. The variation is the bank-number, you can select via Controller 0 (BankSel MSB).

But take a look at the upper right side of the Maxi-sound
instrument editor. Here you can define the Prg-No, Bank No. and the Midi channel of the sample, you want to add to your own created soundbank.

Hope I could help you. If you do not succeed, please ask me again. I know, this is a little bit confusing and it took me some time to find out how to create and download soundbanks, too.

Ciao

Hi all

As You remeber I ask about co-operate Maxi and SW60XG. I added SW60XG to my PC. And really It's sound very impressing. There is only a one BIG problem You can not use Quartz SE software to control the Yamaha card because SE allow only use Maxi Sound, DB or Midi external port.
So, Now I'm going to import it.

Yours
Wojtek
