I am about to spend some cash on a new soundcard. I am unsure on whether to go for a multi I/O card ie. the Darla and also get a small mixer, or to spend the extra cash and get a EWS64 or something similar with midi and sampling capabilities and dump the mixer. I am using VST so I believe I can do the mixdown internally (rather than using the outboard gear). Does anyone have any suggestions as to which way to go. Do I really need multi I/O's or is internal mixing more trouble than it's worth.
Thanks
Rob

If you have any kind of external gear... or ecspecially if you have an external effects unit... then a multiout card and mixer is the way to go. If you're not useing anything but your computer to make music, and you dont have any external effects, than a single out card will probably work just fine for you. Id say go for the Terratec.
