A friend convinced me to buy a SOUNDBLASTER PCI128 to replace my AWE32 ISA card, as he had heard that it would improve games performance.

Well, it may do that but when it comes to playing .MID files it sounds TERRIBLE.
Just like my old SB16. The instruments sound weak and thin, whereas my AWE32 sounded totally realistic..

Is this a configuration problem or is it that i'm sacrificing Wabetable synthesis for this gimmicky 3D nonsense? Cos i still have my AWE32 and am considering putting it back in one of my ISA slots.......
