What are the advantages of an E-MU APS 64 vs LIVE
sound card? Is the difference in sound quality or functionality worth the extra $300?

Ive been doing alot of research into this matter myself. Basically, I think you get much cleaner sounding DACs on the APS (i.e. - less noise), more effects in all, more effects can be applied to individual channels, and more ways to control and modulate effects. I had a Live and ended up returning it because it was far too noisey for me. Also, I didn't care much for the way effects were handled. So Im seriously considering the APS since it would address both my complaints with the Live. It sounds like the APS makes for a very nice sampler, which is what I want to use it for (32 part multi-timbral, 64 note polyphony, up to 15 hardware effects per channel!!)
