Hi,

Well I was using a 200MMX, 64MB RAM, 2GB IDE 5400RPM 12ms hard drive, Event Gina with VST. I got about 8-12 tracks, but with sometimes with audio glitches. I couldn't run a reverb plug-in on any track, but I could run things like phasers and flangers.

Well I upgraded my HD to a 4.5GB 7200RPM 8ms SCSI and all I can say is WOW! No more glitches, lots more effects at the same time, and I can use my 'verb plugin on about three tracks along with other plugins! Stone me! Looks like my old IDE hd was a major bottleneck. Dan Duskins Cubase Users site recommended this upgrade and all I can say is f**K me. Midi timing seems satisfactory with 12 audio channels at the same time too! Christ, if you don't have a 7200RPm 8ms SCSI drive make the upgrade!

I am using the Quantum Viking 4.5 GB SCSI unit.

Hoping everything will get even better when Event release that elusive VST ASIO driver for Gina.

paul.

yes indeed.... if it's mucho tracks you need... scsi will get it...... maybe your video card might be loosing some stuff too.... dependw what it is.....

you can get a 9.1gb Western-Dig Ultra-wide scsi drive now for about 500 quid..... 4.3 about 350 quid... and there is one ASUS motherboard that comes with a built in Adaptec 8080 scsi controller.... cant guaranteee it owrks tho... still a great saving if it does...

Clemens mate... you use a scsi card in your system right ?.....

Hi! :-))

Well folks, thats I always recommend you: SCSI !!!

But not all SCSI equipment has the same performance.

You should use a SCSI busmaster controller. Last week I
configured a PC of a friend of mine. Was an 233II with
an E-IDE Ultra DMA (busmaster). And.... was not so bad.

But I think if you really want to gat all out of the
system: take SCSI. If you own an external sampler with
SCSI- interface you have to install this on in your PC,
anyway.

I use SCSI (Adaptec 2940 UW) and I have no probs
concerning syncronisation (audio + midi) and effects
like reverb etc.

Ciao

Clemens
