Apple powerbook 3400c 32MB RAM 603e PowerPC chip,
VST won't load audio files, only recycle Rex
files. I suppose you'd say the answer is to use
recycle rex files, but I'd like to load up AIFFs
too because I'm supposed to be able to!

When I go to 'import audio' and then 'audition',
files play at double speed, then import in as
several seconds of unmusical crackles and pops. A
new artform perhaps?

And another thing...
Kilo do you know anything about OMS on macs? I
keep getting the old 'there is a midi transmission
problem' message up while using cubase. I've
checked my connections and OMS setup and it seems
to be hunky dorey, and I'm only using a TG33
module and one Roland A30.

Could it be an extension clash or a shit cable (it
shouldn't be that cos I'm using the one that came
with the interface - which is a simple little
Altech thing by the way)?

What a helpful website this is! Keep up the good
wor

Yeah I don't know anything about Macs and stuff, but it sounds to me like you've got a sample rate problem. Now either you're trying to import files that are not 44.1 kHz, in which case you need to convert them using an audion editor of some description (BIAS Peak), or the VST sample rate isn't set properly, in which case you need to simply adjust it (Audio-->System-->Sample Rate). Every once in a while I import 22.05 kHz files by mistake and you're absolutely right, they do sound all pitched up and horrible.

PS I have no idea what OMS is.

Thanks splitmod, it was what you said, I was importing
22.05kHz files, so problem solved!
OMS by the way is the Open MIDI System, a background
application which enables synching between Mac apps and
external MIDI hardware. It also enables me to create a
studio setup on screen containing all my MIDI gear and to
test cabling links etc.
Cheers again matey!
