What do you think , my budget is tight,
anything else in that price-range which
would be better? I believe it costs about 2500 dutch guilders(+/-$1200).

I dont know about better, but when I fiddle about with the vm-3100 at my local music store I thought it was not well made. It came across as very plastic and the faders seemed loose. That was my first impression.

You might take a look at the Tascam TM-D1000 Digital mixer $949.99(same price as the Roland) Its has a very solid feel to it(some sort of metal) 16 dedicated tracks and 4 buses, effcts etc...

Again these are my first impressions.
