hey all...

i'm curious about synthesizing that sound, popular in trance, that soundz like a backwardz cymbal. it's used 2 add tension in buildupz. it's not a roll (at least not discernably). it soundz like noise whose amplitude may b being modulated...

thnx in advance...

"that sound, popular in trance, that soundz like a backwardz cymbal"
may very well be, i dont know exactly which sound your talking about but it would be cool to take a backwards cymbal and just mangle it in sound forge or something for different effects

Hiy'all.

Alot of sounds are just static, really: rain, waves,
snares, cymbals and hihats are all static. So
experiment with a burst of white noise, changing
resonance/ cutoff or adding more treble as the sound
progresses and builds in volume. Add some flange or
phaser too, and you should have an insane 'building'
sound - adding some flange to all the percussion and
some of the rising synth elements at the same time will
also further this building feeling.

Good luck!! There's probably no easy way to do this
with an 'out of the box'
