I just put flat wound strings on one of my basses
and they sound really good. Perfect for getting a
60's sound. Roundwounds get that clangy
metal-on-metal sound (perfect for slapping or that
grinding Jesus Lizard style) but the flatwounds
are the shiznit for that deep, mellow almost all
bass tone sound (think 'Good Times Bad Times' by
Led Zeppelin). Also they're nice and smooth, so
you can get the super slides going...fun

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

What I also have noticed is that by cranking up
the treble (way past tolerable with roundwounds)
they have a high end percussiveness that's quite
pleasing but entirely different from roundwounds.
Definately cool when played with a pick...
That sound will definately be showing up in my
future trac
