Still top of the league, the "mighty" Luton Town
And whats all this wank about some media company trying to charge BBC and ITV 170 Million big ones for the world cup rights? Fucking tossers, its our bloody game and we might not even get to see the damn thing.

Just think - if it wasn`t for the antipodean pie-boy between the sticks it would`ve been even worse, you need to start supporting a proper team, like Luton

anyway, got dragged down to fulham v wycombe last night and all I can say is, Wycombe fans - you`re the biggest pile of shit I`ve ever heard in the 17 years or so I`ve been going to matches, apart from twatford that is. They took a big mob but all they could manage was a few bars of 'barmy army' every 20 minutes or so, pile of shit. Getting outsung by fulham at craven cottage must be pretty embarassing for any team really. Oh, and the match was shit too.
But what about the Berwick anyway! nearly wet meself when I heard that one.

football365 pointed out that Berwick are a team in England that play in the Scottish league and Rangers are a team in Scotland that want to play in England so they should swap grounds. Seems like a good idea to me.

I think its about time Sven used friendlies to actually play his first 11 together rather than give fringe players another chance like he will tonight. I mean, we all know Ricketts or Phillips won`t be going to the wc bar a serious injury crisis so better to get the first choice team used to each other up against top quality opposition.

Two Scousers are riding along the M62 from Manchester to Liverpool on a motorbike. They break down and start hitching a lift. A friendly trucker stops to see if he can help and the scousers ask him for a lift. He tells them that he has no room in the wagon as he is
carrying 20,000 bowling balls but will take a look at the bike for them.
He tries everything he knows but is unable to repair it. Time is getting on now and he's late for his delivery so he tells the scousers he has to leave. The scousers put it to the driver that if they can manage to fit in the back with the 20,000 bowling balls, will he take them, so he agrees. They manage to squeeze themselves and their motorbike into the back of the wagon so the driver shuts the doors and gets off on
his way. By this time he is really late and so puts his foot down.
Sure enough PC Plod of Greater Manchester Police pulls him up for speeding. The good officer asks the driver what he is carrying to which he
replies with sarcasm " Scouse eggs". The policeman obviously doesn't believe this so wants to take a look. He opens the back door and quickly shuts it and locks it. He rushes back to his cruiser and gets onto his radio and calls for immediate backup from as many officers as possible. The dispatcher asks
what emergency he has that he requires so many officers. "I've got a wagon with 20,000 Scouse eggs in it - 2 have already hatched and the f*ckers have managed to nick a motorbike already".

It's funny how some teams - so convinced are they of their own ability - that they find it especially difficult to accept that they're finding themselves on the losing side. But hey; it happens.
Take note, England.
p.s. I konw you beat them 5-1 (Christ. 5-Live keep reminding us on a daily basis!) - but give me some slack for God's sake.

We scored TWICE. Not once, BUT TWICE.
Never mind the 5 goals they scored, we
scored TWICE. TWICE, dammit.
I only caught the end of the cum-ree match but
it made me wish I'd seen it all, if only for mr
enthusiastic on commentary duties - "and
wales have won a throw in!!! have you ever
seen such a good winning of a thrown in
before!!!???? That really was a superb piece
of throw in winning from the welsh side!!!". He
so classy. I'll concede that you did look good
though.
and to make it even better, england are shite
and rather than each individual carrying the
can for being piss-poor as they should they
seem to be happy to let the German porn star
we have in goal take all the blame. Facking
plums. We're still better than you at darts

Quote:
I'm feeling all angry about these modern day footballers, and I
know why they have gone all soft. It's because of poncy names. That's what it
is.
Remember in the old days, when footy players kicked a fucking ball made
out of ten pound of clay stitched inside a steel-reinforced leather
shell with laces made out of piano wire? Well, in them days players could only
survive the rigours of the game because they were called things like
Albert, Arthur, Bert, Harry, Bill, Eddie, Bob, Jack and Tommy. Fucking
tough names for tough men, them was. And what do we have now? Gareth, Jason,
Wayne, Dean, Ryan, Jamie, Robbie. Fucking tarts' names, they are. Great
big fucking poofs.
No wonder the ball's like a fucking balloon and shin pads are like slices
of bread. In the old days you never saw a Len Shackleton or a Billy
Wright with a poofy little Sondico piece of paper down his little thin socks.
Fucking shin-pads in them days was made out of library books, and
socks was like sackcloth. Same with the jerseys. Fucking shirts with holes in
'em now so they can breathe. Yes, so that little Jody's hairless chest can
breathe and he doesn't get a chill. Fuck off.
Stanley Matthews used to dribble round Europe's finest wearing a
fucking tent and shorts cobbled together from the jacket of his de-mob
suit.
Aye, he fucking did.
No wonder players fall over all the time whenever an opponent comes
anywhere near them. And they never used to show their arses at one
another either.
Can you imagine what might have happened if Don Revie had flashed
his ring at Nat Lofthouse during a City-Bolton Wanderers game? He'd have got
one of them size-13 hobnail fuckers up his bastard chuff.
Fucking therapy for stress my arse! Stan Collymore slaps his missus
about and he takes three seasons off with stress counselling. What the
fuck is that all about? In the old days it was expected for footballers to
belt the old sow about a bit, specially after a bad defeat. And the women
used to expect it, and so they should have. They was lucky to be married to
footballers. Ha! Trevor Morley got a kitchen knife in his back off his wife
and was out of action for three months. Soft twat.
Archie McShi** of Port Vale got run over with horse and cart one
Friday night and he still turned out against Bradford the following day. And
he scored two goals. That's cos his name wasn't "Trevor".
Good old Archie. Broke his hip, both his legs, murdered his wife and buried her under
the patio and still made the England team for the Home internationals.
Did he have any "stress counselling"? Did he bollocks!
And drugs? There was none of that in the old days. Oh, no. In them
days it was a quick shot of morphine before kick-off and you was lucky if
you got that. By half-time it had all but wore off so they pumped you full
of laudanum. None of this cocaine sniffing and shooting up class A
narcotics.
Goal celebrations? Don't talk to me about goal celebrations.
Crawling on the floor and thrusting their hips at the crowd. Huh! I'd like to
have seen Cliff Bastin do that after a run down the left flank and crossing
for Alex James to fire home a winner. Handshakes...and that was all you got.
That and a wank in the showers afterwards. But it was a proper
wank...all man stuff. None of these poofy wanks between blokes that you get
nowadays with players like Graeme Le Saux and Stephen Gerrard. Allegedly. In
them days, there was nowt wrong with it cos it didn't mean nowt. They
used to say there was a "gay atmosphere" in the dressing room after the match.
But it didn't mean owt mucky. Just a bit of harmless spanking the plank
among healthy young sportsmen.
Aye. I know. Me dad told me.
Sixty grand a fucking week! Ha! I wouldn't pay 'em tuppence. Two bob
is what Tommy Lawton used to get...a month! And Tom Finney still
worked as a plumber four days a week when he was playing for England.
It's true, you know. Fucking is.
Players had to work them days just to make up their money. Not like
today. Stan Pearson had to clean sewers and doubled up as Old Trafford
shithouse cleaner. He had to go off during one game because some cunt had
built a log cabin and blocked the U-bend. And that Eddie Hapgood was a male
model.....though he never liked to talk about it.
So I say we start calling kids real male names again. If you're
having a kid, don't even consider poofy names and shite names like what
people call their kids these days.
Otherwise what we gonna get in twenty years' time? The England team
full of players called Keanu, Ronan, Ashley and fucking Chesney. Fuck that!
Call your kids Alf, Herbert, Len, Frank, Fred and Wilf. And let's get
the poofs out of the game once and for all !!!
I thank you for your time ...... Unquote

Message 129/300 04-Jun-03 @ 02:28 AM - RE: Footie korner
1. There is a vast difference in grounds with regards to length and width, thus varying the quality of the play.
2. Pitches vary from the well-grassed to the completely bald.
3. Remember it is possible to score at both ends.
4. Tackling from behind is not always an offence - check with ground-owner.
5. Be careful, as after a few pints a ground appears to be of Premiership standard but in reality would not even be eligible as a council dumping ground.
6. Only some grounds offer five-a-side facilities.
7. Don't ever make public your desires to play at Wembley, also never mention pitches previously visited.
8. Extra time is dependent on subsequent pitch bookings.
9. If the ground does not seem to have under-soil heating suggest calling the game off, possibly even contact the coroner.
10. When building a team it is always nice to finish with Seaman at the back.
11. Wet pitches allow for long sliding tackles.
12. Always ask before leaving the pitch and entering the tunnel.
Conversely, DO NOT expect to be allowed to come straight from the tunnel to the goal mouth and score. That can leave an awful taste in the mouth of the pitch owner and may prevent further use of the ground.
13. Personal morals may be compromised by local derbies.
14. It is illegal to play on small, unturfed pitches.
15. From time-to-time the goal may be obstructed by a highly absorbent goalie.
16. Russian grounds are frequently more grassy.
17. French grounds are frequently very nice to look at, however there can sometimes be an awful smell from the terraces, which don't get hosed down as often as they should.
18. Very few grounds are found with executive boxes.
19. Be wary of grounds with room for coaches.
20. Always be on the look out for grounds that host ladies football two evenings a week.
21. Pitches with a waterlogged end, can be out of bounds for up to 5 days a month, although this can be longer if you piss the owner off by continually asking to play up the good end instead.
22. Players will have to agree personal terms with the club, before being allowed to play on the turf.
23. Always look for a ground that has never been played on before (or at least hasn't had many visits). That said, well used grounds may have better atmosphere.

yes yes, premiership don't start 'til a week later.
*** plus important date for wales, s&m have had a tough time recently but they got that manager who did so well for nigeria in the world cup running them now. eek.
20 August:
Serbia and Montenegro v Wales (Red Star Stadium Belgrade, 1915 BST) Euro 2004 qualifier
a win there and we're 5 points ahead then a draw in the san siro (errr..) then we got two home games to make it.

however footballs a wierd one- athletics, tennis etc etc no one gives a monkeys where the athletes are from and they get full British backing
Colin Jackson (wales) and Greg Murray (scotland ) being two fully fledged brits off the top of my head that seems perfectly fine to the nation
bring in football and everycunt gets all shirty and starts thinking back to the 16 hundreds , heh
I think the reason no one wants involved with the british team football wise is cos none of us want associated with your hooligan supporters!

but having a GB team is still representing england and i think it would be a compromise to involve less skilled players just because they needed quotas from each country...
i think in terms of athletics they are as good (and better in certain arenas) and therefore do deserve to be part of a GB team, they have the programs in place to nurture talent-
although id still be happy having an English team and not winning the hurdles...apart from the whole culture ive mentioned do they really expect us to want to play with them when they would rather support any opposing side we play in any international football match? not just us living in the jingoistic 1600's

Message 212/300 17-Nov-05 @ 11:50 AM - RE: Footie korner
england's youth development initiative's been an abject failure so far - club's are having to spend a fortune in order to keep their FA Academy status with no better results than they were getting before. we're producing more pro's through our tupenny hapenny centre of excellence taking on the youngsters the london clubs don't want than most premiership clubs are managing. there are a few exceptions though like southampton and tranmere.
Message 213/300 17-Nov-05 @ 01:02 PM - RE: Footie korner
its still producing more young talent then any other british country so think if they followed that 'initiative' they would probably have more young talent....i think the potential is exactly the same but without structures in place it wouldn't come into fruition- whether they see our academies as failures or not they cant deny that thats where our talent (international level) is usually found.

have we honestly got any better? i reckon the first two alone had more elegance and poise than the current lot put together.
the academy system's just financial apartheid anyway, there's any number of teams running the old centre of excellence format that would fare better in the academy league than bristol city, who lose every game without fail and finish bottom every year. and they lose 1 million a season on their academy alone

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!

The Italians deserved to win. THough they didn't deserve to win against Australia

I thought that Ref was brilliant, so lenient. Which I think really made the match and certainly kept the two teams in a professional mood.
Apart from the odd false dive that ruined it. But nothing major.
I'd been really hoping that Germany would win. But after seeing Italy's performance tonight they deserved it. But WOW those two late goals... amazing.
So will it be Italy v Portuagal or Italy v France on Sunday ?????
I love the world cup. I'm not gutted England arent in it anymore. Dont get me wrong, I would give anything to of seen an England v Germany final. But we didnt cut the mustard from day one. Now that tension is over for us English we can relax and sit back and watch some quality football.

No they didn't, wonder how much the ref got paid for that one?

If it's Italy V France that'll be interesting cos they both can do that stuff upfront. The Italians could do with the win tho, it's been a a while eh

Btw, shame the refereeing throughout wasnt as good as last night
Absolutely... none of that, 'Oh you breathed on him and he rolled around on the floor, so a red card for you sonny' crap.
Do you think he would have let Rooney's Weapon of Mass Testiculation go though?
;)

At the end the poor Germans were sitting around depressed, I was thinking that both teams should get up and go on a lap of the stadium together cos im sure they both would have received a a massive applause for giving such an entertaining match.
Our poor boys did what they could. Unfortunately it was a little less than the Italians could. Not bad at all however.
Surveys from the time before the cup reveiled that more than half of the German people didn't think that their team would survive the group matches !
That Italian defense is so good eh!
Yep, Buffon had to block one single shot and was unemployed for the rest of the game.

The last goal had us laughing aloud. That sideways/backwards ploy eh?
I remember living next to bloke in Kennington who designed a robo-football game years ago. Not remote control: proper little bots playing on their own. Before robowars and such. Where do these ideas go?

The keepers acrobatics would put Grobbelar to shame.

here's a walking robot. The blurb isn't quite true because honda's asmio, among others, walks with dynamic balancing but it is the first robot to walk the way we do (controlled falling forwards). and it uses pneumatic system which is much more difficult than servos.
the scary walking sound is ripe for smapling too.
