I am using a P3 550 with Windows 98, running cubase vst 3.7, and an echo gina 20. I need a midi interface. The built in sound (on the motherboard) is disabled and so is the gameport (which is on the front of the case). Would it be possible to just activate the gameport for midi I/O until I get a real interface? This would just be temporary if I did. Anyway, I have a serial port, and two usb ports. I don't really care what it is as long as it works well with cubase, has good timing and is at least 2x2. Any suggestions for secondhand or new interfaces from people who have used them with 3.7 successfully? Can you use the older opcode units (64, 64x, 128, xtc, etc.) with windows 98? Thank you.
