I use the mic inputs 1-8 via the analog input
per the digital switch to analog. However in
order to monitor the first 8 tracks from my
Mackie HDR2496, I have to set the digital
switch to my ADAT card. If I am recording
to lets say tracks 1-4 using mic input, how
do I monitor playback from my HDR?

Can't you re-assign the digital channels to a different bank? On the 01V I can set up the ADAT channels to be on channels 1-8 (taking up 8 mic preamps, EQs, and compressors), or 17-24 - freeing up the mix pres and mixing resources.
