I´ve had a weak spot for drill'n'bass now for years, and I would like to know which granular synth is best to work with, *or* if you know what the big boys (Squarepusher and the rest of them) use for chopping up their tracks. I have been using Fruity Loops and it's Granulizer effect, but I find it difficult to program/automate with any accuracy.

Umm, do you mean the Malström synth?
Ok, but since I prefer Logic 5 for PC with it's lack of Rewire, it's quite hard to use any Reason synths, right?

Also, from what I can see, there is no way to use the Malström as a sampler, i.e chop up your own samples, which is what I want. Isn't there a nice, easily controllable and completely MAD granular synth as a VSTi somewhere? If not, it's about time someone invented one..

i often think it's fun to work with a synth in a different environment...standalone possibly...and just come up with stuff which you import and tweak in...say...logic?

i mean...create your own samples this way.

if they sound good by themselves...then they'll probably sound cool slammed into a mix of beats and stuff.

be creative.

besides.... it's silly NOT to own reason.
i'm officially not a silly person as of last night.
well...okay...i'm still silly but i finally got reason.

if you want to sample stuff and chop and distort and filter.....then it's either kontakt or the new ik sampletank. now THAT looks cool.

I have connected the Fruity granulizer to my Nord Lead via cc# so now it´s easier, but it is still difficult to edit automation etc, especially when working with one pattern at a time.
Strange that the whole granular trend has not become bigger.. too far from the mainstream i guess. Is there any good sites about granular synthesis in music making, I would appreciate that.
