just bought a new dbx 1066 but can't get any sound. is it neccessary to use a mic preamp before the 1066 in order to operate the unit?

yes, it's a compressor - you need a pre-amp for a mic, then send from pre-amp to the compressor - then from compressor to destination (mixer, etc)

I had an idea for a script once. It's basically Jaws except when the guys in the boat are going after Jaws, they look around and there's an even bigger Jaws. The guys have to team up with Jaws to get Bigger Jaws.... I call it... Big Jaws!!!
