Was thinking about Farrah Fawcett Major who died earlier today when word came over the
news that Michael Jackson had been rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest. Since Jackson's
death a couple of hours ago news stations like msnbc have preempted their normal
programming to cover his death. Did you see the documentary about Farrah's battle with
cancer? I saw it a couple of weeks ago. It was quite moving. Anyway two Icons gone within
hours.

I met Michael Jackson's sister Rebbie. It was probably in the early 90s. I played sitar at a very fine
restaurant near the U.N. every Friday and Saturday night for a while. As I started to take a break a
man sitting with a woman rather rudely called me to their table. I put up my hand in a talk to the hand
gesture and said I'd be there in a minute. I went to their table and the woman asked me if I would join
them. I sat down. She probably offered to buy me a drink. The man introduced her to me. She was
Rebbie Jackson and he was her manager. She was such a sweet woman and very classy. The
manager mentioned her latest hit, I think it was called Cameleon? Anyway I became apologetic as I'd
never heard of the song. I explained to her I never listened to the radio, being immersed in classical
Indian music. She smiled an understanding smile. At the end of our conversation she told me my
music was very beautiful, that she was glad she came to this restaurant because she was on her
way to perform and was inspired by my playing. I took that as a huge compliment.

Again, Rebbie Jackson is one of the sweetest and classiest women I had the honor of meeting.

yeah Sitar, it's weird about m.jackson, doesnt strike me as the kind of guy who didnt have regular medical checkups. And u cant do a 50 date gig without a medical for insurance cover for the gigs (someone would have to insure the gigs against loss dont they? like they do with films). I mean why would u setup 50 gigs in sucession unless u were not passed fit to do it?

hey! lets start a conspiricy theory! - On starting to rehearse the gigs, he found he couldnt sing for some reason... was gonna be sued for million for not fullfilling the gig dates - now he's living in some middle east country courtesy of that country's royal family, and the person lying on the slab is some poor unfortunate stand-in look-alike they bumped off.

good enuff? ;) now put it on twitter ;)

so who's the 3rd gonna be? death comes in three's as they say

LOL! I love your theory.

I heard on the news last night that he was struggling through rehearsals. They say he was given a
clean bill of health but he only eats once a day and they say he no longer had the stamina to get
through the rehearsals.

I don't know where the 3 starts and ends. Kill Bill Carradine died, Ed McMahon did earlier this week. I
would have counted Farrah to be the 3rd but guess not. If we count David Carradine we need 2
more. If we don't, we're good to go. If we don't count McMahon and Carradine we need 1 more. Tell
you what....I'll sit at my computer with cnn.com up hitting the refresh key until somebody else dies.

Yeah, as soon as I heard the conditions in which Carradine's body was found it was pretty obvious
that something sexual had been going on, whether or not he was murdered or died an accidental
death.

I didn't watch this but I heard there was a program last night, might have been Larry King, that was
going to discuss the deaths of Ed McMahon, Farrah, and MJ, so maybe the person in charge of the
things-happen-in-threes-world has already made the decision.

2 nights ago i spent about 6 hours on newsvine.com defending MJ. I can't say I know that he
wasn't a pedophile but I know he was not convicted of the crime. I know he paid people millions to
settle cases but you can't settle a crime against a child with money in a court of law. Some people
way the money was bribe money and others say it was paid because of blackmail. There is also
the story that staff were upset that he had sleepovers with children but did they know something or
were they just assuming? If they knew something why did they not immediately go to the
authorities?

A friend told me yesterday that she believes MJ liked being with children because they are genuine.
They weren't trying to get something out of him or treating him special with kid gloves because of
who he was. She also said, as have so many others, that he never had the chance to grow up and
in some ways was still like a child himself. So he had girlie porn mags in his closet? Folks,
welcome to America!

Back to newsvine, There were so many nasty comments about MJ, sometimes bringing Obama
into their comments while using all kinds of racist code. Some racists were more *out* than
others. I got into it with a guy using a KKK username. The next morning we were still going at it
until he asked if we could call a truce. I tore some woman who said here church was going to
cheer about about his death, the proverbial new asshole. I tore her church, priest, parishoners, and
of course christian hypocricy new ones too.

One last related thing....have you heard of the conservative republican radio talk show pig, Rush
Limbaugh? About "party of family values" (fucking joke right there) republican Governor Sanford
Limbaugh said Sanford had an extramarital affair because Obama is ruining the country. Limbaugh
said Sanford just threw his arms up in the air and said, there's no hope so I'm just going to have
some fun. everyone knows Limbaugh hates Obama but even so, to blame an affair someone else
has on Obama is even more ignorant than it looks at first glance. Sanford started the affair months
before Obama was elected! LOL. What an idiot Limbaugh is.

A new episode of The Simpsons aired tonight. The first 5 or 6 minutes was Bart doing a song that
sounded like it could have been a Michael Jackson song. The kids and grownups from Springfield
were in it as backup vocals and dancers. Bart and the kids busted Michael Jackson moves and
choreography with ideas pulled from various of his vids like Black and White and Thriller. I'm
guessing it was from an old episode. I don't know if they could've whipped that up in 2 days. It was
awesome and very well done. When the number was over the words "In Memory of Michael
Jackson" came across the screen. It was very touching.

another big name just died. Steve McNair. he was the second black quarterback to have played in
the Superbowl. he seemed like a good guy. it looks like it was a murder. he is one of two found dead
and the police have set up a crime seen. k, don't look now but the lounge forum is competing with
BBC, bringing breaking news as it happens.
