Hello and a happy and healthy new year to all.

Does anyone know where, in the UK, I can buy a simple plastic case for carrying a 3.5 hard disc? Something damp proof and dust proof that will protect from a slight knock? I don't want all the fancy connections and gadgets -- just a simple case/pouch to protect a drive whilst in transit.

There's loads for sale in the US; typically about £5, which seems reasonable. Try to buy one here in the UK and all I can find are the £20 to £30+ ones that have the fancy bits. I've already got one of those.

Another instance of rip-off-Britain? I found one from Scan for almost a tenner but they want nearly £7 to post it and I find that greedy.

Bah humbug.

dude ive got 4 empty disk boxes wasting space in my kitchen (was gonna chuck them out but thought "someones gotta have a use")

Each case is lockable and takes at least 100 disks in rows with plastic seperators.

or do you mean a single small case for carrying around 10 disks? cos i have one of those also doing nothing

Ah, you had me excited for a moment. I mean a box for a hard drive -- the drive you get inside a 'puter. I want to take a couple with me on my travels, but I want to do my best to ensure they don't get knackered in transit.

Cheers for the thought though.

ah, sry, i hastily read your title - well i spose u could wack em in a static bag, then in bubble-rap or foam and sling 'em in a biscuit tin or whatever, or even wrap it in cardboard with gaffa. drives can take plenty of knocks once the heads are parked
