The Reverse Function works of course only in the
Hihat Section (Samples).
you can reverse Clap, Rim, Closed Hat, open Hat, short Crash, long Crash
with the Reverse Function and the "tune" parameter set
to the lower values you can generate *very* dirty and raw sounding Stuff.
A DrumSet is about 1 Base, 1 Snare and the Samples.
You store the actual Knob settings for each instrument
(BD SN HH) in a "DrumSet".
Remember: you can set a unique Sound to every single Step in a Pattern! That makes 16 possible diffrent Kick-, Snare-, or Sample-Sounds in a standart Pattern (16 Steps)
This is automaticly stored in your Pattern.
So a "DrumSet" is very uneccessary at the Xbase09.
But you can (if you want) create one !
The BaseDrum is awesome (from 8o8 to 10o10 ;D)
The Snare is analogue ;=) (i call it the "XSnare" because it has a very unique sound - very cool indeed, but i got no original 8o8 Snares out of it (but some other fine things like this))
The Samples are raw and dirty... !
The Samples are clean... !
Remember: The only disadvantage is that the Hihat Section
is monophone ! You cannot play a Clap and a OHH
for example on the same Step.
Tip: make cool grooves ! ;) put them via Recycle in your Sampler. So you get
the max out of the monophonic Hihat (Sample) Section.
"convert Xbase´s mono HH Section to Stereo via Recycle"
The Xbase has the finest Sequencer of all Drumboxes
i know ! (bec. of the Single-Step editing (with analogue
Sound generation) !
You can make grooves with the Xbase that you never can do
with an 9o9 or 8o8....
Also you can make a PHAT Jungle Sub Bass (with the Base Drum) Phatter and deeper than a 8o8.
But remember,
also the Base Drum Section is monophon !
Greetz,
Holger
