it's not there Oberheim DMX

Oberheim DMX

Classic old school drumbox, think early Prince drumsounds, fat snare etc.
The Oberheim DMX drum machine... i actually used one once.... think it had more than stereo outs,.... 6 I think it was, maybe more + possibly clock inputs, and you could blow new sounds onto the soundchip with an Oberheim rom-blower I believe.

The sound is like low-fi samples.... but fat & thumping.... think Run-DMC beats, Prince, sorta thing...... fat snare etc..... classic box.....midi..... I'll try to sort out a sample set for it sometime... anyone got one?.....

Comments please......

It has individual outs for each sound, and clock inputs and outputs... the sounds came on cards that could be replaced. The clap sound is a real killer

The DMX also had CV and Gate inputs for each sound for connection to the DSX sequencer using the Pre-MIDI Oberheim "System". MIDI was a later option. Sounds were 8 bit samples, tuning was possible but required opening up the front panel to access the pots that were mounted on back of the individual voice cards. Bass and Tom voice cards also had Curtis filters to reduce noise created by aliasing. The DMX had a huge sequence memory for it's time and additional sounds could be blown onto EPROMS with the Oberheim Prommer (as could sounds for LinnDrum, Simmons and SCI DrumTracks).

The DMX was used on an endless list of tracks throughout the 1980s, possibly most famous for beats on Blue Monday by New Order.

May I get a beatbox with that? When the oberheim prommer came out it made this one of the first user sampling drum machines around.i think it was out before the SP12.All i know is the DMX and the DX and the stretch are cool ass beatboxes. This is not to be confused w/ the whack rapper.
