A more recent offering from Novation, the 2017 Peak - one of the final designs from legendary synth designer Chris Hugett's time at Novation before he sadly passed away at the end of 2020. The Peak utilises Novations 'Oxford' Oscillator technology - named in honour of Huggett who founded the famous Oxford Synthesiser Company back in the day. They are digital Numerically Controlled Oscillator (NCO) waveforms - the latest technology for Analog Modelling which generate very smooth 'analog' sounding waveforms but Peak's oscillators can also use 17 wavetables each containing 5 waves & are capable of working together to perform FM , so it's a powerful engine which can deliver a wide variety of sounds. The digital oscillators feed into multimode real analog filters. Peak is only 8 note poly but is much admired for its grainy gritty sound and wide sonic character.
The Peak is still being sold in 2023 for £1300 or so and can be found secondhand for less on ebay.
