my A3000 sampler won't stop giving me MIDI
receive errors. It cuts samples during
playback. No good for live work and mildly
irritating at best when trying to write. AARGH!
help.

Can we assume you've tried another MIDI cable (or lead if you're over THERE)?

psy

oh reread... you're playing live. I'm sure you've covered that.

is it in a chain? Or does it do this when you have ONLY a controller hooked up to it?

It may be receiving something it doesn't like from a DAW...

the sampler is always at the end of the MIDI
chain. I have sent note data and controller info
directly from an Evolution 249c keyboard, tried
recording this info to an Alesis MMT8
sequencer and then sending it from that,
mixing both, and note info from a cheap
yamaha drum machine, midi out directly into
the A3000. In the A3000 I use midi channel
one for loops and auditioning new samples, 2
for drums, and 3-16 for anything pitch-based.
Gonna try sending all samples to banks, as
suggested in FAQ next, but this is suggested
as a streamlining exercise, and the errors still
occur when I am sending only one channel
data. What's a DAW?....cheers, j

Sorry, Digital Audio Workstation... some PC's send unfriendly data...

might be the MMT8.. try triggering the samples direct from the keyboard.

the A3000 isn't running a MIDI out back to anything is it?

Are you using SX???

My A3000 has been doing exactly the same thing as of late aswell. It all started when I upgraded to Cubase SX, but Ive looked trough and tweaked every midi/filtering setting I can find. My SY85 also gets the messages at exactly the same time, but there on direct midi outs from the pc.

You have an SY85? Wow... memories. Good bud had that one and I loved it at the time. My first programmable was a SY55. Ok, hijack over. Sorry.
