yes yes yes okay now I think I figured it out
here I had the sample edit screen while the
loop is looping in the arrange and I noticed
that the 2nd bar labeled 2 is moving to the
right if i increase the temp[o and to the left if im
decreasing it..I dont know how i did this but
the loop sounds good...I do defiantely need
practice in this one anyways if anyone has
anything to share or anyt insight for any other
newbies and me add on...laters

^^^ Nice website for all sorts of calculations.

There's a formula. I couldn't find it, and i'm too stoned to try and figure it out myself.

alright, i'll take a stab at drunken/stoned math:

Take your 1-bar loop length in milliseconds and divide it by 240,000. That should be your BPM.

I'm not doing the math for # of samples.

divide # of samples in 1 bar by 176,400 (@ 44.1k).

i can't resist being a geek. but my math is probably laughably wrong.

well, i'm still drunk, but I can see my error. Take the reciprocal of everything I said!

That is, divide 240,000 by your 1-bar length in ms, and THAT is your tempo.

And likewise for the sample thing. Flip it.

The song would be maddeningly slow using my original formulas. makes me laugh thinking about it.

hahahaha.... HIC! wow, did you see the bubbles come out there?

Either that or use Logic's "Adjust Tempo Using Object Lenghts and Locators" function which may work much better and quicker:

Options->Tempo->Adjust Tempo Using Object Lenghts and Locators

Before doing that import your audio to the arrange window, and make a loop which is the nearest value in bars (loop two bars if you audio loop is roughly two bars etc.), and logic will adjust the tempo automaticaly from there.

regards, m.
