Just reading stuff. Had this page open on the Roland so I pasted it to you.
(following note from imperialdub)
many people have 808's or 303's sitting around in their midi studios and don't know how to use them. they tried a midi cable, but nothing happened, so they assumed their device was broken and sold it cheap (ouch!) or just left it there to collect dust. there are a number of ways to convert midi beat clock to DIN SYNC clock. the best is a Kenton electronics PRO SOLO or PRO 2. Kenton, a British company, makes devices solely for this purpose. my pro 2 has become absolutely indispensable to me. without it, I wouldn't be able to run my sh- 101, the 303, the 909, or the 808. but if a new device simply used to sync up gear is over your current budget, here are some secrets i've tried: the Roland MSQ100 2 track keyboard recorder. it's a useless sequencer, BUT, it's got a midi input and a din sync output! you can score one of these second hand for next to nothing. also, the MSQ 700 does the same thing, AND it's got a DCB interface as well and that's great news for Juno 60 and Jupiter 8 owners) there's also a rare device called the Roland mpu 101. it's a multi channel CV gate to midi converter with midi in and out as well as sync out... an awesome find if you ever run across one, buy it!

This is the sequencer accessory for the Juno 106 (hence matching livery). As a sequencer it is very limited, and comparable to the built in ones of the JX line etc.
The reason it continues to have resale value today it because it can be used to sync MIDI devices with older Roland DIN Sync devices. I.e. it will make your 303, 606 or 808 play with your MIDI rig without the need to mod said precious box.
