Yamaha QX-21 & QX-7
Cheapest of the cheap..... 2 track jobbies with a record track, after which the data is mixed with the main track... channels can be retrieved to the buffer track for editing then sent back again etc..... limited note storage... The QX-21 is identical to the QX-7, but was cheaper when new..... both about the same.... real time & step time entry (up to 1/64 note values), track insert/delete (before merging), 6000 to 8100 note memory (dependent on velocity), midi sync..... All operations done with a small 2 place LED screen so it's numerical codes for functions type thing.....Still, great units for playing loops for live mixing... About £ 50 or less now ('97) if you're lucky....

I have the QX21 - not used it much yet - but if anyone knows why the QX7 is any better,please let me know - they seem to be the same. Does the 7 store midi parameters that thew 21 does not?

I read somewhere that the QX-21 show memory remaining and QX-7 does not.
Both manuals are available at: www.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/search.php?div=emi if you'd like to check. Yamaha site support (even for old, old stuff) is great!
