Yamaha SW60 XG
Just wanted to add the SW60XG into the listings - i dunno if they ever made a V2 PCI version, I don't thinkso - so any you find s/h are ISA cards so you'll need a mobbo that can use it... What you get for the peanuts it costs tho is a full blown nice XG synth with lot's of drumkits which can also be edited by excellent editor such as XG-Edit & XG300 - These editors also allow you to access deeper XG second layer sounds and control FX settings, filters etc...The synth for the cash is very good value... it has stereo output - it also has an input which allows you to merge any other audio into the s/w XG mix or to add fx to incoming audio i htink is possble using the s/w 60 fx... . but it doesnt record audio from this input to disk so you can use it to record as far as i know... -
Top sequence it or play GM files, you select it as your sequencer port track/s output and use it as an XG device, it's sound come out of it's output and you could loop that back into an asio pair of inputs to have XG synth sounds into your asio s/w mixer with a fast card or mix it in with your pc audio on a hardware mixer... or loop the asio out to the SW60 input and listen to the whole mix via the SW60 merged output?.. there's no latency on this input thru. - Well, a super-budget special synth but very capable of performing...

Don't forget that just like it's sibling the BD50XG daugtherboard (which fits on most older soundlbasters)it is also capable of playing qs300 performances. Check out XGgold for more info on that.
Great value for money, especially if you have an older pc with an ISA slot or an older SB with the waveblaster connection.

agreed - that's what i meant by acessing 'second layer sounds ' - i like xg300 editor myself cos of the mock sequential synth layout, and it comes with good sounds ready to load using two osc's per note etc.

There's a Hoontech card with Yammy chip that's supposed to be very similar and offers DIGITAL IO. I'm not sure whether it's PCI though.
Anyway, I love my SW60.

yeah the sw60xg is a great bit of kit. very nice sounding. i'd recommend getting XGgold which has far better sounds if you don't want to get too far into programming (or if you do!). i think XGgold is the ONLY software i've properly bought for decades. (thinks....) didn't regret it tho. high sounds/pounds. probably dated now tho, compared to sw1000 but prices will probably reflect this and it is pro sounding kit. i'll certainly put mine in an old 386 or 486 when i finally get out of ISA. i wouldn't be without it...
